YMCA Newcastle - Walker, Byker

Crisis Support

Sometimes when an event occurs in life, it is difficult to know how to deal with it or even know what the right thing to do is.  At Newcastle YMCA we will do all we can to  give support,  providing help accessing hardship funding, dealing with personal issues or problems at home.  No matter what, Newcastle YMCA will try to provide the support needed.

Crisis Housing Support

Through our housing outreach work we support young people to maintain their tenancies or help those  with any other housing issues.  We deal with many areas of work primarily involving:

  • Liaising with other agencies
  • Giving advice on housing and benefit issues
  • Help with applications
  • Sign posting young people to other services
  • Supporting them throughout the process

Access to Hardship Funding

We provide access to hardship grants for those with no income to buy essential items. We also offer services that can support young people with:

  • Benefit claims
  • Budgeting skills
  • Advice on dealing with debt issues

Dealing with Domestic Violence

For  young people who have been a victim of domestic violence,  Newcastle YMCA is here to support them. We build relationships with the young people based on trust, and hopefully we can help them through what can be a traumatic and difficult experience.

Supporting Victims of Criminal Activities, Harassment and Discrimination.

Newcastle YMCA is here to offer support to any young people who are the victim of a crime or suffering from discrimination whether this is based on race, colour or sexual orientation. As well as offering support, the YMCA can help to sign post to people, groups and organisations who can help provide the support that is needed.
